A specialist tuition centre in Bexleyheath, built on the belief that every child deserves preparation that goes beyond the test.
Our Story
EPlusT began in 2014 in a small classroom room with a simple frustration: too many tutors but not single one to understand the basics that children were missing out on to gain entry in to grammar school places. Not because they couldn't do the work, but because no one had shown them how the concepts need to be solidified and foundation needs to be made strong. Group lessons at large chains felt impersonal. Private tutors were inconsistent. Parents were left guessing whether their child was on track.
We set out to build something different — a centre small enough to know every child by name, structured enough to deliver real results, and rooted in the Bexley and Kent grammar school system we've been preparing children for since day one.
Today we work with families across Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Welling, Dartford, and the wider south-east, helping children secure places at Townley, Beths, Chislehurst & Sidcup, Wilmington Grammar, Newstead Wood, QE, HBS, Wallington, Sutton, and the Kent Test grammars.
Meet the founder
Richa Kalra is the founder and lead tutor at EPlusT, a specialist 11+ and SATs tuition centre based in Bexleyheath.
Her route into education was anything but conventional. Richa began her career in technology, joining Sony Entertainment straight out of postgraduate study with a Master's in International Marketing and Management. She moved into education through the computing department at In 2005, she took up a lecturing post at Cosmic Business School, teaching at university level. In UK she has worked with Wallington Grammar for boys for a while in computing department — one of the highest-performing grammar schools in the country — where she first saw, up close, what separated successful grammar school candidates from those who narrowly missed out.
When Richa relocated to the UK, she did something most teachers never do: she sat the British GCSEs herself. She wanted to understand the core subjects exactly as her future students would encounter them — the curriculum, the language, the way questions are phrased, the assumptions examiners make. That decision shaped everything about how EPlusT teaches today.
For the past twelve years, Richa has worked exclusively with UK primary-age children, preparing them for Key Stage 2 SATs and the 11+ entrance exams for grammar schools across Bexley, Kent, and Medway. Her results speak for themselves: 96–99% pass rates year on year, and a long list of children placed at Townley, Beths, Bexley Grammar, Chislehurst & Sidcup, Wilmington, QE, Dartford Grammar for Boys, DGGS, Wilson, St Olaves, Newstead wood, and beyond.
What parents tend to remember, though, isn't the statistics — it's the calm. Richa has a reputation for taking the pressure off the child and onto herself, building genuine confidence rather than rehearsed answers. As she puts it: "I've never met a child who couldn't succeed with the right preparation. My job is to find the way each child learns best, and build from there."
Our approach
We do three things differently.
We teach for understanding, not memorisation. Children who pass the 11+ through pattern-matching often struggle once they reach grammar school. Our lessons build the underlying reasoning skills — the why behind every answer — so children carry the learning forward, not just into the exam hall.
We prepare for specific schools, not generic exams. Townley's papers are not Beths' papers. The Kent Test is not the Bexley Test. We tailor each child's preparation to the schools they're actually sitting, including the right paper formats, timing, and question styles.
We keep parents in the loop. You'll never wonder how your child is doing. Regular mock exams, written progress reports, and parent-teacher meetings mean you always know exactly where your child stands, what they're working on, and what comes next.
What we believe
Every child can succeed with the right preparation. Talent matters less than structured, consistent practice with someone who knows the concepts inside out.
Pressure should sit with us, not the child. Our job is to make children walk into the exam feeling calm and ready. Stressed children don't perform.
Honesty matters more than sales. If we don't think a particular grammar school is the right fit for your child, we'll tell you — and we'll help you find the path that is.
Small groups, real attention. We cap class sizes deliberately. No child should ever be a face in the back row.
